12/11/1977 Bristol City 3 Derby County 1
Like Charlton in the previous round, Bristol City failed to mention the fact that they had been dumped out of the League Cup by lower league Wrexham.
Instead much of the editorial focussed on their Anglo-Scottish Cup Semi-Final win against Hibernian. For the record, Bristol City beat St Mirren 3-2 on aggregate in the Final of that competition.
The programme for the game against Derby County contained 16 pages and measured 18cm x 23.5cm.
29/10/1977 Wrexham 3 Bury 1
Coverage of Wrexham's League Cup win over Bristol City was spread of two league issues vs Bury and Plymouth.
The first 2 pages shown here are from the Bury programme and the "What The Papers Said" article is taken from the Plymouth programme on November 5th, 1977.
The Wrexham side of 1977/78 is arguably the greatest the club has ever had and this was somewhat reflected in manager Arfon Griffith's notes as he described the victory over a team from 2 divisions higher as "not a surprise"!
