23/02/1997 Birmingham City 1 Port Vale 2
Despite being 19th in Division One, and therefore only a handful of places above Wrexham in the League hierarchy, there was a lot of despair at Birmingham at the manner of the defeat. In fact "Terrace Talk" went as far as to describe the performance against Wrexham as "one of the most feeble, gutless surrenders by a Blues team".
Birmingham's season did improve slightly as they climbed the table to eventually finish in 10th place.
The programme contained 48 pages and measured 17cm x 24cm.
01/03/1997 Wrexham 0 Burnley 0
In the programme for the 0-0 draw against Burnley, there was plenty of coverage of Wrexham's 3-1 win at Birmingham. However, manager Brian Flynn was keen to stress that promotion remained the number one priority.
You can't beat a headline like "Reds make Brum glum" either!
Unfortunately that promotion push faltered an Wrexham finished 4 points of the play-off places in 8th position.
